BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Exports flowing through Beijing's two major airport hubs rose steadily in the first 10 months of the year, highlighting the growing role of high-tech and green sectors in the Chinese capital's outbound trade, according to Beijing Customs.
Combined exports via Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport reached 214.64 billion yuan (about 30.28 billion U.S. dollars) during the period, up 8.3 percent year on year.
In total, Beijing recorded 2.67 trillion yuan in goods trade in the first 10 months, with exports reaching 515.69 billion yuan, up 2.8 percent, a record high.
In the first 10 months, Beijing's emerging industries showed strong momentum. Exports of green and low-carbon products climbed 22.4 percent from a year earlier, while biomedicine exports rose 15.8 percent and information technology products increased 14 percent. These sectors have become key drivers of regional export growth, customs data showed.
Beijing is targeting ambitious milestones for its two major airports, aiming to achieve a combined passenger throughput of over 160 million and a total freight and mail throughput of more than 2.5 million tonnes by 2030. ■
